In a tradition first pioneered by Slashdot, we're trying out a new way of interacting with you, our community, in today's article by creating a column titled "Ask the Realm" where you as the readership and members of the Realm (aka Raiden's Realm) ask the community a question.  They will then in turn chime in with their responses to your question.  We'll then take the best of those thoughts and comments, and post them here for all to read and learn from.  So if you're seeing this article and there are currently no replies, please bookmark it and come back periodically over the next several weeks as we add content to it.  This is a bit of an experiment for us, and as such it will require your input and feedback to make it work.  So don't be afraid to share your 2c, be it with a response to today's question, or with a future question that we may present at a later time.

Now, without further delay, here's today's question:  What methods, ideas, or concepts do you find work best when teaching or educating others about Linux?

You can give us your answers either via the discussion thread attached to this article, or by writing to: admin@raiden.net  We look forward to your input and encourage everyone to send us your ideas, no matter how crazy they may sound.  You may also submit questions to this column for future posting via that address.

Tinnitus:
Do not talk about computers, software, security the way we talk.  Explain the way a LiveCD and how it works, include that it does not make any changes to your current system.  Use buzz words easy to use, point and click, very secure, free etc, and you can run Windows Programs on Linux.  Free Office programs for word processing, spreadsheet, powerpoint include that it can read Windows Office
files and has excellent photo, music and video programs. Stay away from the word apps.  On-Line community support that is very quick.
